Celebrating 2 Years: Our Story, Values and Appreciation
Modern Thrive Counseling was created with the intention to be a safe space for clients and therapists alike. We wanted to develop a practice that integrates mind, body and spirit into the clinical work, as well as our team community. Modern Thrive Counseling first opened the doors in May 2022 with Amy as the only therapist. There was one office and a waiting space that was cozy and comfortable. Amy specializes in women’s issues, anxiety, depression, PTSD and trauma-related symptoms, as well as couples therapy.
The practice grew incredibly quickly, thanks to the providers and community network we’ve built. We had to expand, and we found a spot on Biltmore Lane that offered more space for clients, as well as more offices to grow the team. The practice moved from a one office suite to a larger, 2 office plus conference room suite with large windows and a private entrance.
Nicole came on in June 2023 and she brought her expertise in ADHD, adoption, couples therapy, and family therapy, among many other areas of concern. She provides compassionate, heart-centered care that clients can feel from her when they walk in the door.
As we continued to see more clients, it was clear that we needed more space. In the fall of 2023, the office suite went under renovation and two more offices were created. We now offer 4 office suites and a large waiting room for clients who are waiting for their appointment, as well as a space for group therapy and workshops.
Alexis joined the practice in January 2024 and brought her specialties in OCD, anxiety, depression, pregnancy and postpartum care, military family support, along with many other areas of concern. She too brought with her extensive knowledge and experience that has helped the practice grow immensely. Alexis and Nicole are both compassionate providers that offer skills to help take you from where you are to where you want to be.
Kelly joined the practice in January 2024 as our intake and benefits coordinator, and what a world of difference it has made! She truly helps keep the practice in line, and is the first connection most clients make when they are interested in starting therapy with MTC.
Modern Thrive Counseling is committed to providing quality mental health care to the Madison community through person-centered, compassion-focused therapy. Modern Thrive Counseling is also passionate about supporting young professionals who are finishing their master’s degree in mental health counseling. MTC will have two clinical interns joining the team at the end of summer 2024. We are excited to bring them on board!
Our Values
Compassion
Integrity
Reverence
A core value at Modern Thrive Counseling is compassion. Compassion is built with competence, confidence, and connection. We seek to understand our clients’ inner world to help them feel seen in a way they might have never experienced. So often, our personal stories get dampened by the pressures of life, so we strive to create an environment where client stories are honored and held close. We believe that people heal when they can be with what they feel, and we do this through our clinical competence, confidence in our skills as therapists and humans, and the connection we build with our clients. We believe that self-compassion helps the mind, body, and spirit heal. Self-compassion is built with self-kindness, common humanity, and mindfulness that help to approach challenges from a loving framework. We want you to be your own best friend and believe in your innate goodness. This doesn’t mean that we never make mistakes or are never in the wrong; quite the opposite! By using compassion and self-compassion, we can acknowledge our mistakes without feeling like we are shameful, bad people.
Another core value at Modern Thrive Counseling is integrity. We believe that when we stay true to our deep sense of knowing, we can act from a place of integrity. We as providers do our best to stay true to the values of the practice, the ethics of the profession, and the practice policies. We want to model our consistency and faithfulness to the professional standards and care we provide to our clients. We model this and join with our clients to develop their integrity and deep knowledge of self and values.
Our third core value at Modern Thrive Counseling is reverence. Reverence means a deep respect for others. We marvel at the beauty in the world, and strive to help others develop a sense of wonder for the world around them. We have a deep respect for the stories and challenges our clients have endured. We are constantly in awe of the resilience of the human spirit. Whatever it is that brought you here, we want to support you to feel that deep respect for your own story. It is our honor to be with you as you heal. Thank you for choosing us to be a part of your healing journey.
We are celebrating our 2 year anniversary and we are so grateful for our clients, team members, and community that have helped us grow.
“Thank you to the team, the clients, and our families for believing in the vision for the practice- and a very special shoutout to my husband who has been with me since the inception of the practice. Thank you for being my hype-man, handyman, and strategic planner. Additionally, I cannot thank the strong, courageous women who have helped to create this practice. Nicole, Alexis, and Kelly, I am so grateful for you. I am proud of what we are building at Modern Thrive Counseling, and I can’t wait to see where the next year takes us.” -Amy Harvat
